Noosa Long Weekend

June. For more information, visit

With its long beaches, fantastic surf, café society, gorgeous boutiques and scrumptious restaurants, Noosa Australia is justifiably famous as a great relaxed holiday destination. Once a year Noosa on the Sunshine Coast also becomes a hub for culture and the arts.

The Noosa Longweekend was started by Noosa resident, playwright David Williamson and his wife Kristin along with other friends. They wanted to create a Noosa event that would put it at the forefront of cultural excellence. So, the Noosa Long weekend was born.

The festival is all about bringing culture to Noosa – celebrating the diversity that is the arts through the best Noosa food, opera, drama, film and fashion. Noosa venues host thought provoking discussions among top thinkers and authors, to challenge the mind and create debate.

Over 10 long days and nights in June the most talented actors, authors, playwrights, directors, speakers and artists from across Australia hold court at many of the Sunshine Coast restaurants, galleries and public spaces.

You can check out the Noosa Longweekend website to see this year's roll-call of stars and look at a Noosa map to identify the location of the different Noosa events. Previous years have seen the likes of Jack Thompson, Thomas Keneally, Bryan Brown, Robin Nevin, Marina Prior, Michael Leunig and Peter Carey contribute to the Noosa arts with their attendance.
